About the role

  • Position Global Energy Monitor is seeking an experienced communications professional to join its communications team.
  • The Challenge According to the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC), we have less than a decade to make massive and unprecedented changes in the global economy to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.

Requirements

  • The following experience and skills are required for this position:
  • This is a broad, hands-on role for someone with strategic judgement and disciplined project management skills and the ability to lend a hand across a diverse communications portfolio.

Nice to have

  • An understanding of the energy and climate policy landscape.
  • Established network of journalists in the fields of climate, energy, and industry.
  • Track record of pitching and publishing stories in top-tier media.
  • Ability to translate data into compelling narratives using strong writing skills.
  • Experience with journalism or working in a newsroom.
  • Experience with graphic design or data visualization technology for digital graphics (Flourish, Adobe Illustrator, Figma, etc.).
  • Experience with project management software such as Trello and Asana.

Skills

  • At least five years experience in communications or journalism.
  • Scrupulous attention to detail.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of supporting organizational-wide change.
  • Fluency in English.

Compensation

  • The salary is $106,483.55 for locations in the United States.
