This role spans the full product development cycle: concept exploration, engineering development, prototyping, validation, and production readiness.

Contribute to the mechanical design and development of new products and subsystems, supporting projects from concept through production.
Participate in early-stage concept exploration by generating ideas and helping evaluate different design approaches.
Translate product requirements into engineering designs
Support designs through the development lifecycle, including detailed design, prototyping, validation, and production ramp.
Create and maintain CAD models, detailed drawings, and documentation for components and assemblies.
Build and test prototypes using in-house tools and external vendors, iterating based on results.
Apply knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to make sound design decisions
Support design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) efforts across common processes such as injection molding, machining, and sheet metal.
Collaborate with suppliers, operations, and manufacturing teams to refine designs and support builds.
Troubleshoot design and build issues, identifying root causes and implement improvements.

Experience with prototyping and iterative design (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting, quick-turn fabrication).

This is a full-time position expected to be in-office 4 days per week with 1 day flexible for in-office or remote work.
Our office is located in Berkeley, CA.

The salary range for this role is $105,000 - $125,000.
