About the role
- AEP is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Scientist or Data Scientist Senior to join our Supply Forecasting team.
Responsibilities
- Forecasting & Modeling: Develop and maintain industry leading econometric and time series models that support regulatory filings and corporate planning.
- Regulatory Support: Contribute to reports and analysis used in regulatory filings such as base cases, fuel filings, capacity resource plans, and securitization filings.
- Variance Analysis: Assist in preparing unit dispatch and market variance analyses to measure performance and support corporate strategies.
- Data Collection & Management: Gather and manage data related to unit dispatch, fuel prices, power prices, and economic indicators to support forecasting and analysis. Create and maintain database tables to support data storage, retrieval, and reporting needs.
- Visualization & Reporting: Create clear, compelling reports and visualizations to communicate findings to business partners and senior management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and provide analytical support.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in economics, data science, mathematics, operations research, statistics, computer science or related technical field is required.
- 2 years of relevant work experience is required.
- 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Coding: experience and knowledge of statistical software packages such as R, Python, and /or SAS
- Forecasting Expertise: Experience with forecasting through econometric modeling or time series analysis.
- Visualization Tools: Proficiency with data visualization platforms such as Power BI, or similar tools.
- Experience Requirements:
- Communication Skills: Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

- Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Database Skills: Strong SQL skills and experience working with large relational databases.
Skills
