Responsibilities
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural, structural, and engineering drawings for wall forms, slab forms, shoring, and reshoring systems
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates including labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor components
- Analyze tender documents, specifications, and general conditions to identify risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities
- Review designs to identify areas of improvement and opportunity for cost efficiencies
- Build strong relationships and long-term partnership opportunities with our trades and suppliers
- CapWest is hiring a Formwork Estimator for our growing formwork division with an established client base along with an expanding work portfolio that requires a new estimator to support the pre-construction and bid phase.
- The Formwork Estimator is a senior pre-construction role responsible for developing accurate and competitive bids for formwork scopes on high-rise residential and ICI projects throughout the Greater Vancouver region.
- Working closely with project managers, engineers, operations leadership, and our current and future trade partners the successful candidate will own the full estimating lifecycle - from initial inquiry and quantity takeoff through to bid submission, post-tender analysis, site instruction review and handover to the field team.
- This role may involve the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support research, analysis, content development, design, reporting, or operational efficiency.
- Employees are also expected to disclose when AI tools have been used in the creation of work and must not present AI-generated content as solely their own original work.
Requirements
- Minimum 5-8 years of formwork estimating experience with a BC-based formwork subcontractor, general contractor, or concrete construction firm
- Proven track record of successfully bidding and winning projects in the $1M-$20M+ formwork value range
- Hands-on field or supervisory experience in concrete forming is a strong asset
- Experience and comfortable working with on-screen takeoff tools and Excel, Bluebeam Revu, OST, ConEst, B2W, Procore, or similar construction platforms
- Certificate, diploma, or degree in Building Technology, Construction Management, Construction Technology, and/or PQS
- Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with all levels of employees and owners, architects, and subtrades.
- All AI-generated or AI-assisted outputs must be reviewed for accuracy, quality, and appropriateness before use.
- Demonstrated experience estimating high-rise residential concrete structures (15+ stories) and/or ICI projects in Metro Vancouver
- Able to balance multiple deliverables at different phases of completion and complexity;
- Knowledge of trade practices, market conditions, and building materials
- High level of attention to detail to drive accuracy and consistency throughout your work;
Compensation
- $80,000 - $120,000 Per Year Based on Experience
