About the role
- The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all children within the summer program and is qualified to complete all the Director's responsibilities in their absence.
- The Assistant Director is accountable for overall operational management by well-established guidelines, including curriculum development, staff and facilities management, and maintaining all DOH Regulations.
Responsibilities
- In addition to the following duties and responsibilities, all Assistant Directors are expected to perform other reasonable duties or tasks as assigned by the administrative team.
- Manage adherence to state and local regulations.
- Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies to ensure legal compliance.
- Continues to grow and seek out new skills to perform the job effectively
- Can stay on task and efficiently manage time while directing a group of children
- Shows kindness and professionalism to all guardians, coworkers, and adult personnel in the building
- Engage & Model: creates an engaging and safe environment for students to learn & play while modeling positive behaviors and interactions for staff and students alike
- Create and maintain an accurate and up-to-date profile in The Aspire Registry.
Requirements
- Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- the Assistant director must hold the qualifications listed in the OCFS Regulation for "Person Responsible for Program Supervision Functions."
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Education or a related field OR enrolled in an education program that leads to a bachelor's degree.
- One year of experience working in childcare, with children, and/or in an educational setting
- One-year supervising staff members in a childcare program or related field of work
- Customer service and/or previous work experience
- Must pass a full background check and health screening
- Additional Professional Qualities:
- High energy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills

- Shows willingness to float between all different age groups and learn about all children in the program
- Responds to change positively and direction
- Consistently provide direct, competent supervision of the children
- Regularly uses fingers to feel, type, and assist using fine motor skills to tie shoes, zip coats, etc.
Compensation
- Training Expectations: There is mandatory training that must be completed at hiring and on an annual basis in order to maintain a position with LE3.
