Responsibilities

  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Architect, design, and build engaging streaming TV experiences for Roku's large and growing user base across multiple connected TV platforms
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Define and lead architectural decisions to deliver high-quality, high-performance applications on platforms including Google/Android TV, Fire TV, and Samsung
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Set the strategic and tactical direction for frontend development and connected TV applications, lead architecture reviews, guide design decisions, and ensure adherence to best practices
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Drive innovation with a relentless focus on increasing user satisfaction and improving the reliability, stability, security, and quality of streaming applications
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering teams to define scope, make product decisions, and provide thought leadership across the organization
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Proven track record in architecting, building, and shipping engaging consumer applications at scale
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, teams, and senior leaders across the organization

Requirements

  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Experience with media frameworks and streaming protocols, including HLS and MPEG-DASH, DRM, and media playback on HTML5, iOS, and Android platforms
  • familiarity with MSE/EME, ExoPlayer, Shaka Player, or Dash.js
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Ability to operate at both hands-on technical depth and strategic leadership levels

  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Strong understanding of UX/UI design principles with proficiency in modern web frameworks (React/Redux, Solid JS, Flutter, Cordova) and expert-level programming skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Experience with media frameworks and streaming protocols, including HLS and MPEG-DASH, DRM, and media playback on HTML5, iOS, and Android platforms; familiarity with MSE/EME, ExoPlayer, Shaka Player, or Dash.js

Nice to have

  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master's degree preferred) and 15+ years of industry experience in senior software engineering roles

Compensation

  • For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $246,500 - $486,100 annually.
