About the role
- This role reports to the Director of Infrastructure, who is based in the United States.
- You'll balance people management with technical contribution-anticipating infrastructure needs, planning and executing projects, and ensuring our cloud environment scales with Airship and our customers.
- This position is open to candidates currently residing in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of infrastructure engineers
- Provide clear direction, feedback, and support to create a productive team environment
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and security teams
- Support broader company initiatives as needed beyond the immediate team scope
- Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform
- Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines, observability, and automation
- Evaluate and implement emerging infrastructure tools and practices
- Support company initiatives around cost optimization, security, disaster recovery, and compliance
- Respond to and manage critical incidents effectively
- Mentorship and growth opportunities to build skills and accelerate professional development
Requirements
- 5+ years in backend or infrastructure engineering roles
- 2+ years managing or mentoring engineers
- Excellent communication skills in English (required for collaboration with US-based leadership)
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
- Familiarity with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Spinnaker)
- Background in Python, Go, or Java for automation and tooling
- Knowledge of security best practices, networking fundamentals, and incident management

Compensation
- The starting base pay range for this position is: $150,000-$180,000 per year.
- Base pay is part of the total compensation package and is determined by a variety of factors such as relevant skills, work experience, business priorities, market demands, and location.
