About the role

  • This role reports to the Director of Infrastructure, who is based in the United States.
  • You'll balance people management with technical contribution-anticipating infrastructure needs, planning and executing projects, and ensuring our cloud environment scales with Airship and our customers.
  • This position is open to candidates currently residing in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of infrastructure engineers
  • Provide clear direction, feedback, and support to create a productive team environment
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and security teams
  • Support broader company initiatives as needed beyond the immediate team scope
  • Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform
  • Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines, observability, and automation
  • Evaluate and implement emerging infrastructure tools and practices
  • Support company initiatives around cost optimization, security, disaster recovery, and compliance
  • Respond to and manage critical incidents effectively
  • Mentorship and growth opportunities to build skills and accelerate professional development

Requirements

  • 5+ years in backend or infrastructure engineering roles
  • 2+ years managing or mentoring engineers
  • Excellent communication skills in English (required for collaboration with US-based leadership)

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
  • Familiarity with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Spinnaker)
  • Background in Python, Go, or Java for automation and tooling
  • Knowledge of security best practices, networking fundamentals, and incident management

Compensation

  • The starting base pay range for this position is: $150,000-$180,000 per year.
  • Base pay is part of the total compensation package and is determined by a variety of factors such as relevant skills, work experience, business priorities, market demands, and location.
