  • Student learning is the primary responsibility of WGU faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the course progress of an assigned group of learners in their course(s) and proactively offer support at key points of the student journey.
  • Provide expertise in assigned content area and maintains current knowledge in their field.
  • Collaborate with other professionals within the university to promote a positive, student-obsessed atmosphere.
  • Visiting Instructors are subject matter experts who teach and support students.
  • Visiting Instructors offer specialized instruction on topics in their course(s) aligned with best practices, as well as monitor and support student progress in competency development.
  • Instructors collaborate with other instructional and program faculty serving the students to ensure continuity and quality of support.

Requirements

  • Industry experience for a minimum of 2 years
  • Works primarily from home within the continental United States and is available to travel to meetings as required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must demonstrate technological competency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (or similar) applications, virtual instructional platforms, and student management systems

Nice to have

  • Doctorate or terminal degree in content area.
