About the role

- You'll be joining Relay's Accounting Operations team - the engine behind the financial accuracy that powers everything we do.
- Who You Are - 1.5+ years of accounting experience in a professional setting - someone who has already rolled up their sleeves and done the work. - CPA or actively pursuing your CPA designation - this is a near-requirement.
Responsibilities
- Own and automate AP cycle: The AP process is yours to improve - own the full AP cycle to identify manual touch points and drive automation implementation as a result.
- Support month-end close: Partner with the finance team to ensure records are accurate, timely, and ready for reporting - including owning bank reconciliations, adjusting journals, accruals, and variance analysis.
- Shape spend policy and credit card management: Help build and enforce company-wide spend policy and manage the corporate credit card program - real ownership of a function that touches the entire business
- Support year-end audit preparation: Own your areas of the audit file - prepare supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation
- Drive controls and process improvement: You'll actively contribute to building and strengthening internal controls, documenting processes, and identifying gaps - helping the finance function scale with the business.
- Build cross-functional relationships: Work with stakeholders across the business to understand vendor ownership, flag budget concerns, and keep finance processes running smoothly.
- Drive automation and efficiency: You won't just execute - you'll be expected to think critically about how we do things and actively look for ways to make it better using AI and automation tools.
- Maintain data integrity: Ensure all financial entries and reconciliations meet US GAAP standards and are audit-ready at all times.

Nice to have
- 1.5+ years of accounting experience in a professional setting - someone who has already rolled up their sleeves and done the work.
- CPA or actively pursuing your CPA designation - this is a near-requirement.
- Comfortable with AP and month-end workflows - you've had experience with these before and can hit the ground running.
- We use Rillet as our accounting ERP.
- AI-forward mindset - you're curious about automation, not intimidated by it.
- You may not have built workflows yet, but you're eager to.
- Tech-savvy. experience in a tech environment is a plus
- familiarity with US GAAP is an asset.

Compensation
- The annual salary range for this role is $68,400 - $83,600 CAD.
- For candidates who demonstrate full readiness for the defined scope of the role, the typical starting salary is $76,000 CAD.
