About the role

  • Identifies, analyzes and recommends alternative investments to improve portfolio outcomes for clients.
  • Manager selection, due diligence and monitoring across private equity, private real estate, private credit and hedge funds
  • Analyze risks, exposures and performance drivers of investment strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with client-facing colleagues to strengthen their understanding of investment solutions.
  • Participate in client and prospect meetings to help solidify current relationships and to develop new business.
  • Manage and allocate research work to less experienced teammates.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior teammates

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of capital markets and current knowledge of the state of the industry
  • Hands on investment experience in alternative asset classes at wealth manager, family office, foundation, endowment, consultant or other institutional asset management firm
  • Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience
  • Advanced Degree

Skills

  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Proficient with common industry tools, including Bloomberg, FactSet and Morningstar Direct
  • Highly analytical, research-driven skill set

Compensation

  • The pay range for this position is $128,100.00 - $213,500.00 Annual (USD).

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience, OR in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience
