About the role

  • This role combines people leadership with deep technical ownership of high-voltage, high-power electrical system architecture spanning both product and plant-level systems.
  • Your work will directly shape the commercialization of a first-of-a-kind long-duration energy storage technology.
  • You'll also help the organization apply modern engineering tools, including simulation, automation, and AI-enabled workflows where useful - to move faster, make better decisions, and keep the bar high for technical rigor.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the team: Hire, mentor, and manage a high-performing electrical engineering team, providing technical direction, design reviews, and coaching to support strong execution and long-term team development.
  • Own system architecture: Define and drive the electrical architecture for both Antora's thermal battery modules and plant-level electrical systems.
  • Drive hardware development: Lead development of high-power, high-current electrical heating and power systems from early concept through detailed design, validation, site deployment, and operational support.
  • Advance R&D and innovation: Evaluate power delivery approaches, including AC and DC system architectures, to optimize for performance, efficiency, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Partner cross-functionally: Work closely with mechanical, reliability, software, procurement, manufacturing, and project execution teams to ensure cohesive system development and successful program delivery.
  • Build engineering systems: Establish and reinforce strong engineering practices, documentation standards, simulation and review workflows, and effective development processes that improve team efficiency and design quality.
  • Deep first-principles engineering mindset, with a relentless drive to increase performance and reduce cost
  • Strong system architecture experience, including substation design, transformer sizing, bus and breaker sizing, and preparation of single-line diagrams
