About the role

  • Baldwin seeks an experienced, highly motivated attorney to serve as an Associate General Counsel on its nationwide litigation team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a variety of litigation and pre-litigation matters, including restrictive covenant litigation, insurance regulatory issues, potential E&O and professional liability exposures, and general commercial disputes;
  • Investigate and manage E&O and broker/agency errors exposure, including coordinating with the Company's E&O carrier, advising on broker-of-record terminations and client notifications, and corresponding with claimant and opposing counsel;
  • The AGC will also work closely with the Deputy General Counsel and litigation team to independently manage complex dockets consisting of litigation, claims, circumstances, subpoenas, and other matters.

Requirements

  • Excellent work ethic with a high degree of professionalism, and a proven ability to work both independently and within a team.

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one state
  • 3+ years of litigation experience at a law firm and/or in-house role, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and a strong work ethic
  • Detail-oriented with excellent legal judgment and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effectively deals with issues that are complex, confidential, and sensitive in nature
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines

Nice to have

  • Insurance defense and restrictive covenant experience is highly preferred;
  • Employment experience is a strong plus;
