About the role
- Organize outings, seasonal events, fitness programs, arts and crafts, cooking activities, and other enriching experiences.
- Adapt activities to ensure individuals of varying abilities can actively participate and succeed.
Responsibilities
- Turn Free Time Into Meaningful Experiences The Arc of Ocean County is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Recreation Assistant to join our Family Support Department.
- Bi-Weekly What You'll Be Doing Create Fun & Engaging Experiences Plan and lead recreational activities that encourage participation, personal growth, and community involvement.
- Promote Community Connections Support individuals during community outings, recreational events, and social gatherings throughout Ocean County.
- Encourage participants to build friendships, strengthen communication skills, and develop confidence in social settings.
- Support Program Success Assist with scheduling activities, preparing materials, coordinating events, and managing program logistics.
- Provide guidance and encouragement to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) participating in recreational programming.
- Respond appropriately to participant needs while promoting dignity and person-centered supports.
- Collaborate With the
- Team Maintain accurate program documentation and activity records.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, families, and community partners.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED required.

- Minimum Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age.
Nice to have
- Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred.
- Demonstrated employment stability preferred, including at least one (1) year with a previous employer.
