About the role

The successful candidate will join the current team of four clinical track faculty who are responsible for teaching, research, and clinical service on the UW-Madison campus.
The successful candidate will participate in the clinical activities of the teaching hospital, including the provision of patient care and instruction and supervision of veterinary students, interns, and residents.
Approximately 31,000 small animal patients are evaluated at UW Veterinary Care annually.

The expectation would be for the individual to develop an independent extramurally funded research program with an approximate distribution of effort as described below.

Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC or ECVECC) is required by start date.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Wisconsin by start date.
Aptitude or experience in clinical instruction of DVM students, interns, and residents is also expected.
Distribution of effort in the section and the department will be determined in accordance with service needs, academic priorities, and the candidate's expertise and academic goals.
The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with all sections of the hospital and department.

Academic experience or relevant practice experience beyond residency training and DVM (or equivalent) degree is preferred but not mandatory.
