About the role

- You will report directly to the Quality Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in development and production environments
- Review and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records.
- Perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100
- Participate in engineering design reviews and make recommendations to improve the quality and manufacturability of new designs
- We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion.
- This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
Requirements
- 5+ years' proven experience in a Quality Engineer role in a production environment.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 QM System and/or related quality systems and programs
- Provide quality assurance domain expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and test for the Manufacturing team
- Applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering/Science
- Ability to support manufacturing schedules and overtime on as needed basis
- Recommend and improve initiatives and/or changes that will improve product and system quality
- Desired:
Nice to have
- American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification
- Experience in Aerospace, space launch, military/commercial aviation highly preferred.
- Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem-solving approaches
- Experience in Composites manufacturing
- Experience with IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum)
- Experience with IPC 620 standard (IPC-WHMA-A-620)
- Experience in GD&T fundamentals
- Experience with quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, root cause analysis and corrective action
Compensation
- Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
