About the role

  • The Academic Interventionist is a school-based position located at The Leah Chase School and is responsible for supporting student progress in literacy and numeracy.
  • The position is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.
  • Uses specified evidence-based small group and/or individual instruction to identified students in the areas of reading, language arts and/or mathematics;

Responsibilities

  • This position provides individual or small group instruction to identified students in need of additional academic support.
  • Attend training and support implementation in the appropriate model(s) implemented in the school;
  • Analyzes data from assessments and benchmark testing to drive and enhance instruction;
  • Maintains accurate data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress;
  • Supports implementation of assessment windows and data management systems;
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to address barriers to student success.

Requirements

  • At least an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, and meet the requirements and expectations set in Act 99;
  • Teaching experience required.

Nice to have

  • Valid Louisiana teaching certification strongly preferred;
