This high-level function requires conferring with the Director, executive administrators, and representatives of the judicial, legislative, and executive branches of government.

This duty includes preparing complex legal documents, motions, pleadings, findings of fact, and briefs for use by the State Attorney General or County Attorney offices.
The position exchanges and prepares high-level information regarding the facts and legal status of critical cases or major agency initiatives, providing strategic counsel to optimize agency programs while minimizing systemic liability across the agency.
Independently conduct extensive legal research, case investigations, and data compilation to support the Director's Office on complex matters intersecting with transportation and statutory law.
Provide high-level professional legal services by independently drafting and editing complex bills, resolutions, and statutory amendments designed to legally implement the ideas, priorities, and strategic objectives of the Department.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Three years of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing and trying cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies.

Legal Requirement: In accordance with Section 7-101, Nebraska Revised, Reissued Statutes of l943, incumbents in this class must be admitted to the Nebraska Bar.
Must have a valid driver's license or ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
