About the role

  • Reporting to the Hospitality Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional guest service and ensuring day to day property operations.
  • This includes overseeing guest relations, managing bookings, coordinating events, and supervising a team of employees and contractors, all while ensuring a welcoming atmosphere and a memorable guest experience.
  • This role will also require working on-call duties such as handling guest inquires, emergencies, and after-hour complaints.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management and clients to plan and execute events that align with Nekinan' s hospitality standards.
  • Supervise and support kitchen hostesses/cooks, ensuring high-quality, home-cooked meals are prepared on schedule.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of custodial and janitorial staff to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Ensure contractors adhere to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government's policies and procedures, manage their schedules, oversee the quality of work, and minimize disruptions to operations.
  • Maintain records of work performed, including schedules, maintenance logs, asset lists, etc.
  • Work with the Hospitality Manager to maintain and update policies and procedures and identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Manage staffing responsibilities and perform supervisory duties including hiring and training staff, assigning job duties, and developing and overseeing staff work plans.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to produce professional documents, reports, and presentations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in hospitality management or a similar supervisory role.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a leadership role, leading a team of direct reports.
  • Experience working in an Indigenous and/or non-profit setting is an asset.
  • Ability to travel throughout Alberta is a requirement.
  • Acceptable attainment of a Police Information Check is required.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.
  • The Hospitality Supervisor must be passionate about people, and possess exceptional organizational and communication skills, with demonstrated experience leading a diverse team.
  • Other Requirements
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule of days, evenings, weekends, overnight stays, and holidays, as required. Ability and willingness to work on call to meet facility and service needs.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
