About the role
- FMS Aerospace in Huntsville, AL is expanding and seeking an experienced full-time, permanent Mid-Level Aircraft Stress Engineer for our Huntsville, AL office.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for providing stress analysis of aircraft wing, fuselage, and interior monuments using both traditional stress analysis (hand calculations) and finite element analysis software.
- Bridger Aerospace has grown from operating a single plane to commanding a significant Air Attack fleet, Special Missions Sensor Equipped Aircraft, and the largest privately operated Super Scooper fleet in the world.
Responsibilities
- Undertake preliminary and detailed engineering designs in support of customer program requirements
- Design work will be performed in SolidWorks
- Support design and design change substantiation when necessary
- Perform design evaluations and assessment of results
- Perform engineering data analysis in support of customer program requirements
- This position requires someone interested in integrated design teams where design, stress, and manufacturing work together to provide rapid solutions to unique design challenges.
- Ability to effectively manage time over several programs
- Our parent company, Bridger Aerospace is an aerial firefighting and critical infrastructure support company based in Belgrade, Montana.
- It was founded in 2014 to support front-line firefighters with world-leading technology and aerial fire suppression systems.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in relevant field for aircraft structures work
- 4+ years' experience as an aircraft stress engineer
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work proficiently with remotely located employees as well as in a team environment
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
- Must be US citizen
Nice to have
- Proficiency with FEA software (NASTRAN/FEMAP preferred)
