About the role

  • FMS Aerospace in Huntsville, AL is expanding and seeking an experienced full-time, permanent Mid-Level Aircraft Stress Engineer for our Huntsville, AL office.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for providing stress analysis of aircraft wing, fuselage, and interior monuments using both traditional stress analysis (hand calculations) and finite element analysis software.
  • Bridger Aerospace has grown from operating a single plane to commanding a significant Air Attack fleet, Special Missions Sensor Equipped Aircraft, and the largest privately operated Super Scooper fleet in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake preliminary and detailed engineering designs in support of customer program requirements
  • Design work will be performed in SolidWorks
  • Support design and design change substantiation when necessary
  • Perform design evaluations and assessment of results
  • Perform engineering data analysis in support of customer program requirements
  • This position requires someone interested in integrated design teams where design, stress, and manufacturing work together to provide rapid solutions to unique design challenges.
  • Ability to effectively manage time over several programs
  • Our parent company, Bridger Aerospace is an aerial firefighting and critical infrastructure support company based in Belgrade, Montana.
  • It was founded in 2014 to support front-line firefighters with world-leading technology and aerial fire suppression systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in relevant field for aircraft structures work
  • 4+ years' experience as an aircraft stress engineer
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work proficiently with remotely located employees as well as in a team environment
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Must be US citizen

Nice to have

  • Proficiency with FEA software (NASTRAN/FEMAP preferred)
