Responsibilities

  • This role focuses on the design, implementation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of control systems for production equipment and automated manufacturing processes.
  • You will support HVAC manufacturing, assembly lines, press brakes, laser systems, and other critical plant equipment to maximize uptime, efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Design, program, commission, and maintain PLC-based control systems, HMIs, robotics, servo drives, and automation for production machinery and processes.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Facilities, and Engineering teams on equipment upgrades, new installations, and integration of new technologies.
  • Develop and optimize control logic, sequences, and safety interlocks to improve throughput, quality, and energy efficiency.
  • Support MFMEA, risk assessments, and reliability initiatives for manufacturing equipment.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PLC programs, HMI screens, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical training and support to maintenance technicians and operators.
  • Manage small-to-medium capital projects related to controls and automation.
  • Occasional travel for training, supplier support, or multi-site collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

Nice to have

  • 3 years of hands-on experience as a Controls Engineer or Automation Engineer in a manufacturing environment (HVAC, automotive, or heavy industry preferred).

Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar), HMI development, and industrial networking.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical controls, instrumentation, and automated equipment.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as coil forming, sheet metal handling, pressing, or assembly lines is a plus.
