About the role

This role is responsible to ensure that safety standards and procedures are followed by all mine personnel in compliance with company, state, and federal Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) rules and regulations.
Copper One is a 24/7/365 open pit mining operation with an excellent safety performance and compliance record.
The ideal candidate combines OSHA and MSHA expertise and experience having acted as a Safety Specialist or Safety Engineer in mining operations.

Lead by example, in all safety processes, ensuring complete safe engineering and operating practices.
Manage and ensure strict compliance and ethical behavior with state and federal regulations in all aspects of the business.

Establish and maintain on-going internal and external customer relationships to anticipate and resolve potential problems. This includes a high level of communication with all departments and commitment to continuously improve current procedures.

Deep knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations, applied in real-world operations.
1+ years of progressive safety experience in chemical, industrial, refining, mining, or heavy construction environments. Surface mining experience will be a plus.
Proven track record of building proactive safety cultures and achieving measurable safety improvements.
Training or education with MSHA regulations and processes preferrable.
Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills across all levels.

1+ years of progressive safety experience in chemical, industrial, refining, mining, or heavy construction environments.
Surface mining experience will be a plus.

Provide / Conduct MSHA Annual Refresher Training and New Miner Training to employees and approved contractors.

Ensure on-time and accurate reporting of any incidents that are a result of Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.
Work with all Managers and Supervisors in ensuring Health and Safety goals are being achieved.
Work with Human Resources in handling Workers Comp. issues and other health-related issues.
