About the role

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Grounds Service Person for the Daytona Beach campus.
Install new and renovate old landscaping including but not limited to turf, trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds.
Remove all trash on grounds including emptying waste receptacles.

Maintain, renovate, and repair all exterior athletic and recreational facilities
Assist in various special events, set-ups, and building service functions as needed
Maintain, renovate and repair campus grounds including but not limited to landscaping, fencing, parking lots, roadways, and pathways.
Maintain parking lots and roadways including potholes, curb stops, and cleaning.
Maintain records of hours and materials used, and vehicle log trip tickets.

High school diploma or GED with 1 year of work experience
Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing, with the ability to comprehend basic instructions and respond effectively
Must be able to operate a standard shift vehicle and possess a valid Florida's driver's license
Ability to operate all power equipment related to grounds maintenance.
Ability to climb ladders or scaffolding and work in overhead areas.
Must be able to lift and/or carry miscellaneous grounds equipment or supplies short distances and to push or pull a handcart.
Required Qualifications:
Basic knowledge in all areas of ground maintenance, horticulture, cement work, etc.
Must be able to lift and/or carry miscellaneous grounds equipment or supplies short distances and to push or pull a handcart. Eye-hand coordination is essential for proper operation of power tools and other work associated with ground maintenance.
Employees must take necessary precautions due to the nature of the equipment they are working with, the outside elements subjected to, to protect themselves, and those around them from the hazards associated with this type of work.

Prior grounds and/or landscaping experience
In some instances, a valid Class C (CDL) license may be required.
Must meet the University's standards for approved drivers.
Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and Vehicles Procedure 1.17) include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence):
More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years
More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year
A major conviction in the last 3 years, including (but not limited to) driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and/or homicide or assault by motor vehicle.
