About the role

  • Note: Category Management is a strategic approach to procurement, where the oversight of Chevron's spend is segmented into areas of similar/related products and services (categories).
  • Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Category Specialist, Wells through July 07, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CST.

Responsibilities

  • Develops category plans, strategic sourcing of goods and services, manages supplier performance, and facilitates joint process improvements with suppliers to achieve the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Build strong collaborative relationships across functions, assets, and key suppliers. Develop and execute joint strategic roadmaps with these functions and key suppliers as One Team to drive performance, innovation, and competitive outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain commercial terms, rates, compensation methods, best practices, and market intelligence to ensure top quartile cost, schedule, reliability, and predictability.
  • Works with business partners to define procurement strategies for given categories of spend based on market analysis and demand forecasting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of supplier performance management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related area
  • General knowledge of the work function and Chevron's practices.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree of Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or Engineering
  • Ability to effectively communicate at varying organizational levels both internally and externally
  • Excels in demanding situations, consistently demonstrating composure and adaptability under pressure.
