About the role

  • Aviva Canada Inc. has an excellent opportunity in our Small Medium and Enterprise (SME) commercial insurance business unit.
  • Our Calgary branch is seeking a Commercial Lines P&C Underwriter in an Intermediate level.
  • This role is accountable for driving profitable growth through high-quality underwriting, with a focus on middle market and large commercial accounts across select industry segments.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain broker relationships
  • participate in broker/insured meetings to support new business and renewals.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, portfolio quality, and compliance.
  • Support junior staff through basic coaching when needed.
  • Strong communication, relationship‑building, and problem‑solving skills.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of underwriting fundamentals, pricing, and policy wording.
  • Proficiency with underwriting systems, rating tools, and Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

  • CIP preferred or in progress.

Compensation

  • These accounts typically fall within the annual premium range of $25K to $250K.
