About the role
- Provide innovative education, mentorship, and guidance to all students in a variety of settings, including the classroom, laboratory, simulation center, and Cabot Animal Support Services in the discipline of veterinary surgery. ● Play a critical role in promoting the health and welfare of animals within a shelter environment, including high quality surgical and medical care to small animals, support of population management, promotion of public health, and collaboration within the shelter program.
- Participate in student assessment, feedback, and remediation to ensure that students meet LCSVM's high academic standards in the areas of knowledge, skills, and abilities. ● Participate in curriculum development, delivery, assessment, and enhancement. ● Provide service to Lyon College and the greater community by serving on committees, providing leadership, participating in community outreach events, and working with professional organizations and groups. ● Maintain discipline and teaching expertise through continuing professional education. ● Engage in scholarly activity, including research, authorship, presentations at conferences, innovation, entrepreneurship, and mentorship of students in their scholarly activities. ● Opportunities exist to provide medical services to partners of the veterinary school, such as private practices.

- The LCSVM is co-located with Cabot Animal Support Services (CASS).
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree ● Board Certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, another relevant ABVS specialty (such as ABVP), or progress towards specialty certification.
- Required:
- Preferred: ● Master's degree and/or doctoral degree ● Prior experience teaching within a veterinary or medical school. ● Demonstrated leadership experience in educational and/or professional settings. ● Demonstrated scholarly activities in education, innovations, entrepreneurship, and/or medical research.
- This position will be based at the new Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine in Cabot, Arkansas. The LCSVM is co-located with Cabot Animal Support Services (CASS). CASS is a local, state, and national model for shelter medicine, animal welfare, community relations, and education.
