About the role

  • Provides care to pregnant and birthing individuals throughout the childbearing cycle including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal care.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Graduate of a nationally accredited midwife degree program Required
  • 1-3 years Inpatient and outpatient midwifery care Required
  • American Midwifery Certification Board Required and
  • American Heart Association Required and
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Required and
  • Department of Regulatory Agencies Required and
  • Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
  • administrative support functions as required.
  • Completes required clinical documentation in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner (10%)

Skills

  • Knowledge base consistent with core competencies of basic midwifery practice.
  • Prescribes medications including controlled substances, contraceptives, and hormone therapy
  • Skill translating scientific evidence to clinical practice.
  • Skill in diagnostic and treatment techniques
  • Skill in empathic communication and trauma informed care
  • Ability to educate other employees, midwifery students, nurse-practitioner students, medical students and residents in the clinical setting.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of electronic health record systems preferred, specifically EPIC.
