About the role
- DEQ touches the lives of all North Carolinians in many ways to enhance and ensure our quality of life.
- Duties will include the configuration of equipment, shelters, computers, data loggers, cellular modems, and certifying calibration and measurement equipment.
- Certifies monitors to assure field readiness, prepares site infrastructure, and installs monitors and associated equipment such as air samplers, calibrators, data loggers, computers and zero air devices.
Responsibilities
- Provides maintenance and technical support for this electronic equipment and the corresponding monitoring sites.
- Provide support to all DAQ sites to include weatherproofing shelters, heating/cooling, communications, security of the site, safety of personnel, etc.
- The goal is to have clean, safe ambient air that can support the lives of people, animals and plants and allow for economic growth.

- Description of Work
- This position may be assigned to one or multiple sections in ECB: (Non-Criteria Pollutant Instrumentation Support, Gaseous Criteria Monitoring Network, Ozone Network, Particulate Matter (PM), Instrumentation Support, and Infrastructure Support), to assist with maintaining and learning the ambient air monitoring equipment and the infrastructure technologies.
- This will include the repair, certification, calibration and maintenance of air monitoring and laboratory equipment, perform quality assurance procedures, and manage equipment and shelters at air monitoring sites.
