About the role

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment used in the installation of underground wet utilities, including water mains, sanitary sewer systems, storm drainage systems, and related infrastructure.
  • As a key member of our team, the Operator will work closely with other crew members and subcontractors to ensure that projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest level of quality.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and other utility construction equipment, to support the installation of underground water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
  • Maintain equipment and perform basic repairs as needed
  • Develop and maintain relationships with crew members and subcontractors to ensure that they are aware of project schedules and deadlines

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in heavy civil construction, with a strong preference for underground utility experience
  • Experience excavating around existing utilities and working in trenching operations for water, sewer, and storm drain installation
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
  • Ability to read and interpret utility plans, profiles, grade stakes, and construction specifications

Nice to have

  • vocational training in heavy equipment operation preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of GPS machine control and grade systems is a plus
  • Experience with government contracts and compliance is a plus
