About the role

  • As a Loading Bay Operative at AstraZeneca's cutting-edge Discovery Centre in Cambridge, you'll be at the core of a well-orchestrated logistics operation that keeps everything moving smoothly and efficiently.
  • From managing deliveries and coordinating vehicle movements to ensuring the safe handling of scientific materials, you'll play a key role in supporting life-changing science every single day.

Responsibilities

  • Use bespoke systems to manage vehicle traffic.
  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing goods.
  • Support safety compliance, promptly reporting deviations or risks.
  • Maintain a clean and organised working environment in the loading bay.
  • Support site security and ensure proper handling of regulated materials.

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in a warehouse/loading bay or customer-facing logistics role.
  • Operation of forklifts and other handling equipment is required.

  • GCSE or equivalent secondary school qualification.
  • Valid forklift operator qualification is desirable.
  • Experience in goods handling, traffic management or stock control.
  • Understanding of safety and regulatory requirements in logistics.

  • Demonstrates a high regard for safety and protocol compliance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Nice to have

  • Avantor works with a preferred supplier list and will take the initiative to engage with recruitment agencies based on its needs and will not be accepting any form of solicitation.
  • Previous use of inventory/logistics software preferred.
