About the role

  • In this role, you will be responsible for driving profitable business from an assigned group of brokers and partnering closely with our Sales organization.
  • Along the way, you will help clients better understand how to protect their businesses, bringing together underwriting expertise, business acumen and a relationship-first approach.
  • This is a remote opportunity that can be based anywhere in the Western region of the United States with a strong preference for California or the Pacific Northwest.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain disciplined underwriting files, documentation, and internal tool usage in line with Coalition's workflows and governance standards.
  • Lead highly complex negotiations on pricing, terms, structures, and exception requests in line with risk appetite, carrier requirements, and close partnership with CPU.
  • Partner with Coalition's security team, Claims, Product, Actuarial, and CPU to address complex risk issues and translate technical, wording, and portfolio considerations into sound underwriting decisions.

Nice to have

  • additional experience in underwriting miscellaneous professional liability is a plus.

Skills

  • Excellent executive presence, presentation skills, and comfort leading complex broker and client conversations in high-stakes settings.
  • Significant experience mentoring underwriters and influencing underwriting culture, standards, and operating practices.

Compensation

  • Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.
  • The US base salary for this position ranges from $150,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,000/year in our highest geographic market.
