About the role
- Natera is seeking a skilled, self-motivated, and hands-on Senior Software Engineer to join a software development team in the Oncology domain within a fast-growing biotech company.
Responsibilities
- Directly contribute to engineering initiatives through hands-on coding, design, and architecture.
- Drive technical roadmap execution and lead architectural decisions, upholding system design as a core tenet of all deliverables.
- Establish and maintain engineering best practices and quality standards.
- Complete HIPAA/PHI privacy and compliance training within 30 days and maintain current status on Natera training requirements.
- You will play a key role in building critical web applications and services alongside full-stack and UI engineers.
- System design is a core tenet of our engineering culture.
- You will drive technical excellence, mentor peers, and collaborate with product and design teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.
- Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, you will develop scalable solutions while maintaining high standards for quality and compliance.
- Natera takes cyber crimes seriously, and will collaborate with law enforcement authorities to prosecute any related cyber crimes.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong technical background in modern web development, specifically using React and JavaScript/TypeScript, including experience with complex embedding patterns (iframes, cross-origin messaging).
- Experience with programming in JavaScript frameworks such as NextJS.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies and track record of successful project delivery.
- Ability to thrive in a Cursor and Claude shop, effectively utilizing advanced AI tooling to augment development workflows and accelerate problem-solving.
- Solid understanding of backend systems, APIs, and databases (PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or similar).
- Experience building LLM-powered applications - such as agentic pipelines, tool-calling systems, or AI-augmented workflows - is a strong plus.
- Experience in Healthcare IT or developing software in a regulated environment is a plus.
- Deep expertise in system design, building highly scalable distributed systems, and developing enterprise applications using JavaScript/TypeScript or similar modern web languages.
- Demonstrate initiative as a self-starter with a proactive approach to navigating ambiguity, addressing complex issues, and finding creative solutions.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and providers, with AWS being preferred.

Compensation
- $137,500 - $171,900 USD
