About the role

  • We dream big, as well, with an aggressive five-year plan to expand to serve 3,500 students across seven schools -growing our organization's impact and leveling the playing field for all children.
  • DREAM is seeking dynamic individuals to serve as Volleyball Coaches in our middle school (DREAM University) summer program.
  • The ideal candidate is a reliable team player with a strong commitment to youth development and experience playing and/or coaching volleyball.

Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of youth sports practices and games
  • Supervise and manage students at all times using restorative practices and proactive interventions to ensure physical and emotional safety
  • Use Sports Based Youth Development principles to create an inclusive and accessible competitive sports environment

Requirements

  • 18+ years old and high school diploma or equivalent required by June 30, 2025;
  • Ability to facilitate high quality recreation programming with large groups of adolescents in an outdoor environment while ensuring student safety;
  • Ability to independently follow practice plans/lesson plans;
  • Experience working in a summer camp, youth development, recreation or athletics setting;
  • Ability to uphold, promote, and model positive youth development principles;
  • Ability to quickly problem-solve in the moment;
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting;
  • High-performing part-time staff have the opportunity to apply for the DREAM Teaching Fellowship, through which they can earn a Bachelors or Masters degree and become full-time teachers at DREAM.
  • DREAM offers competitive compensation commensurate with relevant experience with the potential for a seasonal increase.
  • Exhibits high energy, warmth, enthusiasm and patience in working with adolescents;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organization skills and attention to detail;
  • Skilled problem-solver and self-starter;

Nice to have

  • Demonstrated success as a recreation specialist strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrated success as a middle school athletics coach strongly preferred;
  • Experience as an athlete preferred;
  • Experience with behavior management, including positive youth development, preferred;
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), a plus;

Compensation

  • DREAM offers competitive compensation commensurate with relevant experience with the potential for a seasonal increase.
  • The rate for this position for incoming staff is between $20 and $23 per hour.
  • New hires are typically brought into the role at a salary closer to the start of the range depending on qualifications and internal equity.
