About the role

  • Full Spectrum is looking for a hands-on Electrical Engineering Verification Technician to join our fast-paced medical device development team.
  • This role bridges the gap between early-stage engineering evaluations and formal regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Empirical Data for Risk Analysis: Perform characterization and failure testing (e.g., thermal overload, short-circuit behavior, signal integrity) to collect empirical data supporting Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) risk models.
  • Test Bench & Fixture Setup: Assemble, wire, and maintain electrical test benches, custom breakout boxes, test fixtures, and cable harnesses.
  • Formal Design Verification Execution (Formal Verification Phase)
  • Protocol Execution: Execute formal hardware design verification test protocols against finalized, frozen product requirements using calibrated, traceable equipment.
  • Good Documentation Practices (GDP): Accurately document all test results, data logs, and execution steps in compliance with FDA design controls, ISO 13485 quality standards, and GDP requirements.
  • work with EE design engineers to drive root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Equipment Management: Operate and maintain standard electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, logic analyzers) ensuring proper setup and calibration traceability.
  • Defect Logging & Analysis: Identify, record, and track hardware defects using tools like Jira or Azure DevOps; work with EE design engineers to drive root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Problem Solving & Communication: Strong analytical and root-cause troubleshooting skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills to document anomalies clearly.
  • performing empirical bench testing on early PCBA revisions (characterizing performance, debugging physical layouts, and generating real-world data to justify FMEA risk assumptions) and executing formal Design Verification on finalized, frozen hardware designs to generate objective regulatory evidence.

Requirements

  • perform basic SMT component rework, soldering, and board modifications as required.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, PCB layout files, bill of materials (BOMs), and component datasheets.

Nice to have

  • Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET), Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical trade school / military electronics training. (Bachelor's degree in EET or BSEE is a plus).
  • Desired Skills (Nice to Have):

Skills

  • IPC J-STD-001 or IPC-A-610 certification for high-reliability soldering and SMT component rework.
  • Experience with test automation or basic scripting (Python, LabVIEW, or C/C++) to interface with test equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety and EMC testing principles (e.g., IEC 60601-1 standards).
  • Experience using requirements management and defect tracking tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, DOORS, or Helix ALM).

Benefits

  • Domain Knowledge: Practical understanding of the distinct goals of early empirical bench testing (iterative learning/debugging) vs. formal Design Verification (locked protocols/regulatory evidence).
  • Regulated Industry Experience: Working knowledge of FDA Design Controls, ISO 13485, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) within a medical device or regulated environment.
  • Education Requirements:
