About the role

  • Position Title Assistant Professor Employee Type Regular Office/Department Biology Work Environment Remote and hybrid positions are open to applicants based in states identified here: Work at Loyola | Loyola University Maryland.
  • The Department of Biology at Loyola University Maryland (LUM) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of bioinformatics to begin in July 2027.
  • The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to LUM's stated goals of equity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Candidates who are interested in developing cross-disciplinary courses that can serve biology/biohealth, computer science, and data science students are also especially encouraged.
  • Funds are available to support startup costs, research-related expenses, and professional travel.

Requirements

  • Have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics or have a Ph.D (or equivalent degree) in a biological field with extensive training and use of bioinformatics
