- The EH&S Senior Specialist - Environmental will have ownership of the wastewater treatment plant operations, and waste management programs.
Responsibilities
- Own and administer the site's environmental programs including creating procedures, maintaining records, reporting internally and externally, and developing teammate training
- Devise strategies to meet corporate environmental and sustainability objectives. Develop targets and monitor performance, using established metrics and KPIs (leading/lagging)
- proactively identify and manage projects to reduce the site's impacts on the environment.
- Lead and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote EHS excellence and drive risk reduction.
- Create, manage and lead environmental projects across multiple departments and teams
- Perform risk assessments and impact and aspects analyses
- and drive risk reduction projects in the spirit of continual improvement
- Own ISO14001 and 45001 systems and serve as a lead auditor for EHS Management Systems
- Lead investigations into environmental incidents
- Develop targets and monitor performance, using established metrics and KPIs (leading/lagging); proactively identify and manage projects to reduce the site's impacts on the environment.
Requirements
- A degree in a relevant discipline, e.g., Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry
- Five or more years of experience in an industrial setting
- E xtensive experience in wastewater treatment plant operations, specifically metal hydroxide precipitation
- Demonstrated experience in environmental program development and ownership
- Ability to work in both a team and individual setting
- Resiliency and ability to adapt quickly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Ability to use a variety of software applications to analyze, monitor data, conduct reports, and presentations.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, extensive walking, confined spaces, wear a respirator and handle exposures to hot/cold environments.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports, applications and plans as required
Nice to have
- Preferred knowledge of Indiana and US environmental regulations and ISO 14001 Standards
- Preferred Indiana Waste Water Treatment Operator License or the ability to obtain one in the first six months
- Preferred experience with air permitting and reporting and hazardous waste management
