About the role
- This role is responsible for implementing the real-time control functionality that directly enables high performance, high-availability operation of the plasma at the core of our stellarator fusion power plant.
- This position plays a critical role in ensuring reliable and high-performance plasma operation.
- Architect a performant, user-centered, high-availability real-time PCS infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Type One Energy is seeking a Real-Time Engineer to support the development, deployment, and operation of our Plasma Control System (PCS).
- The successful candidate will work closely with the PCS lead scientist and CODAC (Control, Data Access, and Communication) engineers to design, implement, test, and maintain real-time control software and supporting hardware infrastructure.

Requirements
- 3+ years of experience implementing real-time control systems in production or operational environments.
- Strong expertise in embedded systems and deterministic real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Deep practical knowledge of concurrent, multi-threaded, multi-processor, and networked computation architectures.
- Mastery of C/C++ development Experience implementing digital filters Extensive experience implementing continuous integration and automated testing pipelines.
