About the role

  • Summary of Job Responsibilities: The physician in the clinical track is responsible for providing direct inpatient and outpatient care to GI patients at UHealth Locations and Jackson Memorial Hospital.
  • He/she will provide obesity evaluation, medical therapy, endobariatric outpatient clinical and endoscopic services (at least 8 half days a week), as well as rounding/ teaching on inpatients at UHealth Towers, and Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and perform comprehensive physiologic assessment of obesity and obesity related disease such as BMI, body scan / body composition, elastography, and fibroscan.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and manage anti ‑ obesity medication therapy.
  • Perform and interpret endoscopic procedures with expertise in sedation, airway management, and surgical anatomy relevant to bariatric care.

Requirements

  • MD /DO Degree and ACGME US internal medicine internship and residency.
  • Provide case logs for core and non-core endoscopic procedures (2 years).
  • Valid unrestricted Florida Medic al License or eligible to apply (must have license prior to credentialing).
  • Permanent residency, or ability to ability to secure proper Visa to work in the United States.
  • Completion of Clinical Nutrition and Obesity Medicine Fellowship
  • Completed 3-year ACGME US gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship.
  • Valid American Board of Obesity Medicine Certification (ABOM)
  • Valid American Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology (or board eligible).
  • Valid DEA licensure
  • Kn owledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must maintain CME to meet institutional a nd state licensing requirements.

Skills

  • Completion of US ACGME 3-year gastroenterology /hepatology fellowship.
  • Obesity Certification
  • Must have excellent clinical knowledge and experience to provide safe and quality care to patients and meet institutional standards of care.
  • Current ACLS and BLS certification required.

  • Rotate on night, holiday, and weekend call proportionate to other faculty.
