- Summary of Job Responsibilities: The physician in the clinical track is responsible for providing direct inpatient and outpatient care to GI patients at UHealth Locations and Jackson Memorial Hospital.
- He/she will provide obesity evaluation, medical therapy, endobariatric outpatient clinical and endoscopic services (at least 8 half days a week), as well as rounding/ teaching on inpatients at UHealth Towers, and Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Establish and perform comprehensive physiologic assessment of obesity and obesity related disease such as BMI, body scan / body composition, elastography, and fibroscan.
- Prescribe, monitor, and manage anti ‑ obesity medication therapy.
- Perform and interpret endoscopic procedures with expertise in sedation, airway management, and surgical anatomy relevant to bariatric care.
Requirements
- MD /DO Degree and ACGME US internal medicine internship and residency.
- Provide case logs for core and non-core endoscopic procedures (2 years).
- Valid unrestricted Florida Medic al License or eligible to apply (must have license prior to credentialing).
- Permanent residency, or ability to ability to secure proper Visa to work in the United States.
- Completion of Clinical Nutrition and Obesity Medicine Fellowship
- Completed 3-year ACGME US gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship.
- Valid American Board of Obesity Medicine Certification (ABOM)
- Valid American Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology (or board eligible).
- Valid DEA licensure
- Kn owledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must maintain CME to meet institutional a nd state licensing requirements.
Skills
- Completion of US ACGME 3-year gastroenterology /hepatology fellowship.
- Obesity Certification
- Must have excellent clinical knowledge and experience to provide safe and quality care to patients and meet institutional standards of care.
- Current ACLS and BLS certification required.

- Rotate on night, holiday, and weekend call proportionate to other faculty.
