About the role

  • Engaged in the department training program and serves as a trainer for security staff.
  • Patrols assigned areas of facilities and grounds and responds to emergent and routine situations and calls for service.
  • Verbally de-escalates and if needed, physically restrains patients or disruptive individuals.

Requirements

  • Provides training to security staff in all required initial and ongoing training programs, as well as participating in meetings associated with training development, coordination and delivery.
  • American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required
  • State of Wisconsin required

Nice to have

  • Currently holds or successfully completes IAHSS Basic certification within 3 months of hire or promotion Required
  • Currently certified or successfully completes departmental training in Defensive Tactics for Security (DTS) within 3 months of hire or promotion Required
  • Post high school coursework in criminal justice or equivalent field of study Preferred
  • 2+ years security experience Required
  • Requires an acceptable driving record, ability to be insured by CHHS carrier.
  • Successfully meets the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) guidelines allowing unescorted (badge) access to radioactive materials within the hospital.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are necessary in order to effectively interact with a variety of hospital employees, staff and visitors, sometimes under potentially stressful situations.
  • Analytical skills necessary in order to inspect hospital areas, ensure security of all hospital staff, visitors and patients, and prepare security incident reports, missing property reports, etc.
