About the role
- Nurses on this unit provide compassionate, specialized care while monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, delivering chemotherapy and other treatments, and supporting patients through complex care needs.
- Care provided on this unit includes chemotherapy, hospice, radiation, stem cell transplant/CAR-T, radioactive iodine, and symptom management.
- Work within one of the country's largest cancer networks, accredited as an Integrated Network Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including board-certified and fellowship-trained cancer experts, to support individualized patient care.
- For new graduates, this program begins a comprehensive 6-month residency designed to support a confident transition into professional nursing practice.
Requirements
- Every other weekend availability required
- Required Oncology 6 RP Unit Overview The Oncology 6 RP Unit is a 36-bed inpatient Intermediate Care Unit dedicated to caring for patients with cancer.
- Sentara's 11-week Transition to Practice program supports the orientation experience with focused knowledge development and hands-on skill acquisition for IMC practice.
- New graduate nurses are automatically enrolled, with no separate application required.
