Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Performs work under general supervision and technical direction.
  • Familiar with moderately complex concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Works with authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity.
  • Maintains strong knowledge of company policies and industry laws and regulations.
  • Strong negotiation and decision-making ability.
  • Position requires occasional travel.

Nice to have

  • Generally, a minimum of 5 years of experience in Underwriting or a related field.

Compensation

  • $74,400.00 -$99,600.00

  • Evaluates and underwrites new and renewal business in accordance with Company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
  • Analyzes risk data to make informed decisions on coverage, pricing, and terms.
  • Collaborates with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information and clarify details.
  • Orders and reviews additional reports and screens, such as motor vehicle reports, loss history reports, outside inspections, etc., to inform decisions.

  • Communicates underwriting decisions clearly and effectively to internal teams, agents, and brokers.

  • Interprets, explains, and markets products and services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
