About the role
- Guide integration of generation, UPS, BESS, and microgrid controllers to improve resilience for AI/GPU workloads.
- Communicate AI load power strategy and its implications to Development, Operations, and executive leadership.
- Act as the subject matter expert on AI/GPU load and power topics.
Responsibilities
- Analyze unique power profiles of AI/GPU workloads (e.g., transient loads, high density) and their implications for infrastructure design.
- Partner with Utility Development and Power Procurement to align load strategy with available capacity.
- Engineering & Design Support
- Collaborate with Substation & Grid Engineering on design coordination for high-density loads.
- This leader will own translation of AI/GPU compute growth scenarios into concrete power design and capacity requirements.
- Build and maintain load forecasts based on AI/GPU growth scenarios, translating them into power capacity and design requirements.
- Provide engineering leadership on power design requirements driven by AI/GPU load characteristics.
- Support system studies (load flow, short-circuit, reliability) reflecting AI/GPU load profiles.
- Lead and develop a team of Staff Engineers supporting AI load power strategy.
- Set technical standards and quality expectations for load analysis and design recommendations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 8-12+ years of experience in power systems engineering, with exposure to high-density or data center loads.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
- Experience with AI/GPU or HPC data center power design.
