About the role
- Monthly invoices will be submitted by the consultant, with a maximum number of 80 hours per month (and any projected hours over this amount to be approved by the supervisor).
Responsibilities
- Meet with Edify staff recommended by VP to determine project requirements and develop a key features document outlining requirements of the assessment.
Requirements
- Knowledge of early grades literacy skills and competencies, including reading comprehension
- Cross-cultural competence and ability to engage with teams from diverse backgrounds
- Spanish proficiency
- Understanding of assessment design and how to develop empirically-valid questions
- Understanding of literacy assessment at the secondary school level
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Ability to communicate requirements to technical leads and provide user feedback, with coding and/or database knowledge a plus
- Estimated Timeline
- Key Features Document: Meet with Edify staff recommended by VP to determine project requirements and develop a key features document outlining requirements of the assessment.
- Matrix Prioritizing Key Features and Existing Solutions: Share with staff and include an efficient feedback mechanism (e.g., Google Forms).
- Determine Assessment Tool and Adaptations: Provide recommendations to Edify on whether to adapt an existing tool or create a new tool and on how to incorporate assessment data in Edify's database.
- Refine Assessment Tool for Pilot: Prepare assessment for schools and backend integration with Edify's database.

- Key Deliverables
- Matrix comparing key features with existing assessment tools, including prioritized recommendations (early July)
- Stakeholder feedback on matrix and recommendations (mid/late July)
- Identification of assessment tool and necessary adaptations (late July)
- Pilot of new tool with select schools (late August)
- Feedback from schools participating in the pilot (late August )
- Refinement of tool and handover of final prototype (September)
- Starting June 25, 2026 and continuing through September 30, 2026
- Prepare assessment for schools and backend integration with Edify's database.
Compensation
- Compensation will be commensurate with experience and paid on an hourly basis.
