About the role

  • Small wages, high voltages, long hours of difficult technical work, safe career choice doubtful.
  • JOB DESCRIPTION Join Fleetzero's Electrical, Hardware, & Embedded team and contribute to R&D and production of the next generation in maritime technology.
  • We work in a highly iterative method, testing early and often, rather than a traditional linear or waterfall development program.

Responsibilities

  • Design ship power conversion systems, including switchboards and components, using bidirectional inverters, associated filtering, fusing, and circuit protection.
  • Design and analyze vessel electrical & propulsion systems, ranging from clean slate design to system modifications
  • Integrate Fleetzero-designed systems with vessel legacy propulsion systems for testing
  • Develop one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, load analyses, and other relevant work products necessary for R&D through sea trials
  • You will integrate with marine, hardware, and firmware engineers and manage projects from conception through testing iterations, prototype manufacturing, and field testing.
  • This is a hands-on role developing critical components for safety-critical applications in harsh environments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, focusing on system-level design, development, and testing.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience and competence in power generation and distribution systems.
  • Experience with filtering 3ø power from PWM devices (i.e., LCL filtering)
  • Proficiency in system testing, including development and execution of test procedures.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Nice to have

  • Experience with the marine environment and/or marine equipment (Navy, Merchant Marine, Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering, etc.)
  • Experience with Marine Class Societies (ABS, DNV, LR, etc)
  • Experience with USCG, MIL STD, UL, and other regulatory bodies and standards
  • All roles are expected to include intermittent or occasional travel as the business needs.

Compensation
