About the role
- KBR is seeking a motivated and technically capable UI Engineer to support the development, deployment, and sustainment of the GEMSTONE platform.
- The UI Engineer will help design and develop intuitive, modern, and responsive web applications that enable engineers, analysts, software developers, and mission users to interact with GEMSTONE services and digital assets.
- The successful candidate will collaborate with product owners, UX designers, software engineers, platform engineers, and government stakeholders to create user experiences that simplify complex technical workflows while maintaining security, scalability, and usability.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain modern web user interfaces supporting GEMSTONE platform capabilities.
- Implement responsive, accessible, and intuitive user experiences for digital engineering, modeling & simulation, analytics, and data management workflows.
- Develop front-end applications that integrate with REST, GraphQL, and API-driven backend services.
- Collaborate with backend engineers to define and implement service integration patterns.
- Translate UX/UI designs into production-ready web applications.
- Develop reusable UI components and shared design patterns.
- Support implementation of role-based and attribute-based access control user experiences.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and user-facing guidance materials.
- Support deployment and operation of applications within cloud-native Kubernetes environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Information Systems, UXD, or related technical field.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
- Ability to learn complex software ecosystems and rapidly become proficient in new platforms and technologies.
- Ability to submit a portfolio of previous work prior to an interview.
- 1-5 years of software development experience focused on web application development.
- Experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript development.
- Experience with at least one modern front-end framework:
- Familiarity with authentication technologies such as Keycloak, OAuth2, OIDC, or SAML.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and client-side API integration.
- Experience using Git-based source control systems.
