About the role
- Job Details The Property Claims Adjuster is a core individual contributor role within Openly's Property Claims organization, responsible for managing homeowner property claims from first notice of loss through resolution.
- Openly operates in a remote-first environment.
- Regular availability during core business hours is expected.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end property claim handling from first notice of loss through closure, including supplements, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Vendor & Partner Collaboration:
- Manage and collaborate with vendor partners including contractors, independent adjusters, engineers, and other service providers.
- Partner with internal functions - including SIU, Subrogation, Legal, and Underwriting - to drive aligned claim outcomes.
- This position demands a combination of technical claims expertise, strong customer focus, and meticulous attention to detail; someone who can investigate losses thoroughly, produce accurate estimates, and deliver a superior policyholder experience at every touchpoint.
Requirements
- 8+ years of property adjusting claims experience and customer service
- Experience writing estimates in Cotality, Xactimate, or a comparable platform
- Experience writing estimates using information provided by field inspections, not only reviewing field adjuster estimates
- Active adjuster license(s) or eligibility to obtain licenses in all required states
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Google productivity tools
- Ability to work from home without distraction
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a fast-paced team environment
Nice to have
- Experience with virtual inspection tools and AI-assisted claims platforms
- Exposure to catastrophe (CAT) claim operations
- Innovative mindset with a track record of contributing to process improvement
- Experience with MacBook and Google Suite products in claims handling
- CCP, CPCU, AIC or other relevant professional designation
Skills
- Conduct thorough investigations including review of policy terms, coverage analysis, and determination of liability.
- Examine claims for potential subrogation opportunities and identify potential fraudulent issues.
- Determine the appropriate method of inspection (virtual, field, or third-party) based on claim complexity and circumstances.
- Conduct virtual inspections using video, AI-assisted tools, and other emerging technology platforms.
