About the role

  • Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will oversee all accounting activities, including financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls.
  • This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a startup mindset and the ability to scale financial operations as we grow.
  • Please note this position requires employees to be in our Bay-Bloor office at least 2 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Support FP&A in close analysis, identifying drivers, variances and trends to provide actionable insights to management.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting financial modeling, ensuring accurate accounting of capital investments and planning initiatives.
  • Maintain a robust system of internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role in a high-growth startup, ideally in eCommerce marketplace or retail tech.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • Advanced proficiency in financial tools, software and ERP systems such as Excel, NetSuite, WiseBuy, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in managing financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, treasury, and tax.
  • Prepare external reporting requirements to investors, lenders and other stakeholders as required
  • Manage corporate administration and all other external reporting as required
  • CPA required.
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead accurate and compliant financial reporting in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Compensation

  • This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary.
  • Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.
  • Initial base salary range for this remote position = CAD $140,000 - 180,000

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
