Responsibilities

  • Assists in identifying clients' needs and supports clients to independently access community resource
  • Provides one-on-one basic employment related information, support, and referrals;
  • May develop individual Work Plans showing action plan/timelines to meet unique client caseload, service objectives, output, and outcomes
  • Develop an outreach plan/strategy to proactively deliver services to newcomers, and represent MOSAIC in the community to advocate for newcomers' needs
  • Provide one-on-one detailed needs assessment and referrals, information and orientation, group orientation and information, guided pathway support, community connections, client outreach, service bridging, resource development, and delivery assistance to eligible clients
  • The Settlement Worker provides direct client service and program delivery support.
  • Since 1976, MOSAIC has worked to strengthen communities by advocating for positive changes and supporting newcomers in building their new lives in Canada.

Requirements

  • Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check required.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in community development, settlement, and/or employment programs
  • Excellent knowledge of office procedures, Program/project development, community development, documentation of services and diversity, standard office equipment
  • Before applying, you must be legally permitted to work in Canada through citizenship or permanent resident status.
  • Therefore, until further notice, employees are no longer required to provide a proof of vaccination.

Skills

  • Ability to speak a second language will be considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Fluency (verbal and written) in an additional language other than English would be an advantage.
  • Able to work independently and with a team
  • Presentation, workshop, and facilitation skills both in-person and online
  • MS Office suite, publishing software, database.
  • OCMS knowledge and experience an asset
  • Customer service skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and cross-cultural counselling skills
  • Organized and able to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Tactful, discrete, diplomatic, patient, flexible

Compensation

  • $28.58 - $31.03 per hour
  • Today the organization engages and serves over 26,000 clients per year at 47 service and community locations in Greater Vancouver through a wide range of high-quality settlement and integration programs including services geared towards youth and family, interpretation and translation, language and workplace training, counselling, and employment.

Benefits

  • A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
