About the role
- Principal Responsibilities: The Telemetry Technician I is the entry level position for the Telemetry Technician Progression.
- The Telemetry Technician I has accountability for timely completion of established skills development assignments in each wage step in accord with established guidelines.
- The Telemetry Technician I has the option to prepare for advancement to Telemetry Technician II by obtaining additional training and Operator Qualifications in Step 4 per established guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Each skills development assignment is designed to further prepare the Telemetry Technician I to work safely and independently on Measurement department responsibilities.
- The following list is not intended to be all inclusive of duties and responsibilities as needed to learn, assist and independently perform regulated and non-regulated measurement work.
- Install, repair, proof test and maintain Group IV meter sets (including but not limited to large diaphragm, rotary and turbine and any new meters that are developed and chosen to be utilized in the company's gas measurement) and associated regulators and reliefs
- Support the Company's odorization requirements by taking and entering system odorant readings
- Install, inspect, test and maintain:
- Support Engineering department and Resource Centers on pipeline construction and In Line Inspection routines and emergency response
Requirements
- Minimum six months training or experience in electronics and/or mechanical systems with demonstrated experience in installation, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical systems and equipment
- Experience utilizing mechanical concepts and mathematical aptitude
- Minimum of 1-year experience in the natural gas industry or a related technical field
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office products
- Experience using construction tools
- Experience utilizing personal computers (PCs) in a Windows environment
- Post high school degree
- Previous experience in natural gas measurement or equivalent industry experience
- attainment of required Operator Qualifications
- and demonstration of proficiency in performance of job duties associated with regulated and non-regulated measurement work.
- High School diploma or GED
- 2 years technical school education and/or Associates degree or equivalent job-related experience
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- Demonstrated safety awareness
- Previous experience in instrumentation controls and telecommunications
- Related vocational training
Skills
- Install, repair and maintain electronic correctors
- Check customer regulators and relief valves during field meter testing
- Troubleshoot, identify, and correct any large volume meter reading issues
- Ensure completion of meter test program on Group IV meters
- Ensure accuracy of AMR devices on meters and correctors
