About the role
- The Ultrasound Technologist responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding personal health information.
- The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for daily operations of the ultrasound lab, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA).
Responsibilities
- Uses imaging equipment and soundwaves to form images for diagnosis. Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures. Provides and maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.
- Educates patients/families regarding the procedure to be performed. Explains the procedure and independently performs ultrasound exams on patients following established protocols.
- Maintains the ultrasound equipment and sterilizes the room. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Troubleshoots and ensures equipment functionality.
- Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
- Provides and maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.
- The Ultrasound Technologist in the acute care setting will perform a wide range of ultrasound exams, such as general ultrasound, breast, OB/GYN, and other ultrasound exams on incoming patients.
Requirements
- Radiologic Technologists - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Sonography (S) Upon Hire(Required) and
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) CCI (RCS, RCIS, or RVS) Upon Hire(Required) or
- Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) CCI (RCS, RCIS, or RVS) Upon Hire(Required) or
- The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Sonography (S) Upon Hire(Required) and
- Experience
- Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) RDMS(OB, AB, Breast, or NIV) Upon Hire(Required) or
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) RVT or RDCS Upon Hire(Required) and
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
