About the role

  • TYLin is seeking an accomplished Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing Rail + Transit Structural Engineering team in New York City.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level structural design and technical input for major rail + transit facilities, including stations, maintenance facilities, service buildings, coachyards, and right-of-way structures.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource on project teams, supporting design decisions and resolving complex structural challenges.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and designers, fostering growth through technical guidance, collaboration, and thoughtful feedback.
  • Begin leading structural tasks and project components independently, coordinating closely with Project Managers to support successful delivery.
  • Perform structural analysis and design using steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry systems, including consideration of seismic and dynamic loading where applicable.
  • Support field investigations, condition assessments, and feasibility studies for existing and new transit infrastructure.
  • Collaborate in lockstep with multidisciplinary partners (architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical, systems) to integrate structural solutions within active transit environments.
  • Participate in client coordination meetings, contributing technical expertise and helping maintain alignment with stakeholder expectations and operational needs.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering structural designs for major transit agencies such as MTA C&D, Amtrak, LIRR, Metro-North, or similar organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis tools such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, or similar.

Nice to have

  • New York PE license required (SE or additional licensure is a plus).

Compensation

  • As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $120,000 - $165,000 annually for this position and local market.
